WORLD OPERA DAY WITH EDMONTON OPERA
Celebrate World Opera Day with Canadian-Armenian bass-baritone Vartan Gabrielian and pianist Frances Armstrong in a free evening of art song and opera.
The first half of the program moves through selections from Schubert’s Schwanengesang and Jacques Ibert’s Don Quichotte. After intermission, Vartan turns to the operatic stage with a selection of arias that show the range, drama, and sheer sound of the bass-baritone voice.
Vartan returns to Edmonton Opera this season as Don Basilio in The Barber of Seville, following recent appearances with companies including the Opéra national de Paris, Royal Ballet & Opera, Opéra de Lausanne, and the Verbier Festival.
Admission is free, but RVSP is required.
Come spend World Opera Day up close with one of Canada’s exciting operatic voices.
