Rumbold Vocal Prize 2026

One of Canada’s leading opportunities for emerging opera artists, the Rumbold Vocal Prize brings singers together for a week of development, coaching, performance, and competition at Edmonton Opera.

Finalists will take part in a residency from November 16 to 20, 2026, leading up to the final competition on November 20, 2026.

Application Deadline

Round 1 applications are due July 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM MST.

Applicants must submit two recent video recordings of operatic arias.

Audition Process

1. Prescreen

Submit two video links of operatic arias with your application.

2. Live Audition

Selected applicants will be notified by August 10, 2026.

For the live audition, applicants should prepare a list of 3 to 5 arias in at least two languages.

Live auditions will take place in:

• Toronto: September 11, 2026

• Toronto: September 12, 2026

• Montreal: September 14, 2026

• Edmonton: September 16, 2026

• Vancouver: September 19, 2026

Finalist Week

Successful applicants will be notified by September 28, 2026.

Finalists will join Edmonton Opera for a residency week from November 16 to 20, 2026, with the competition taking place on November 20, 2026.
