Summer Box Office Sales Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)

Edmonton Opera is seeking a Summer Box Office Sales Assistant through the Canada Summer Jobs program. This role offers hands-on experience in ticketing, patron services, and arts administration, supporting both day-to-day operations and live performance activity.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is organized, people-focused, and interested in gaining experience within a performing arts organization.

Position Details

Compensation: $15 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week
Term: Summer 2026 - 8 Weeks (Tentative Start Date: May 19, 2026)
Schedule: Must be available to work evenings and weekends, particularly during performances

Key Responsibilities

Box Office and Patron Services

  • Serve as a point of contact for patrons, assisting with inquiries, telemarketing, and outreach efforts

  • Support ticketing logistics and sales processes

  • Assist with testing and implementing new box office procedures

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patron records

  • Utilize Tessitura (CRM) for database management and ticketing support

Administrative and Team Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Sales and Marketing team

  • Assist with data entry, reporting, and organizational tasks

  • Work collaboratively with team members on problem solving and operational improvements

  • Utilize cloud-based tools such as Dropbox and OneDrive

Front of House Support

  • Support front of house operations during performances, as required

  • Assist in delivering a welcoming and professional patron experience

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

  • A positive attitude with flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Customer service experience is considered an asset

  • Experience with CRM or ticketing systems (such as Tessitura) is an asset

Eligibility Requirements (Canada Summer Jobs)

To be eligible for this position, candidates must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
