PLAN YOUR VISIT

A night out at the opera is an experience to remember. Make the most of it by following these tips!

GETTING HERE | WHAT TO EXPECT

GETTING TO THE CITADEL

Make your way to the Citadel with ease — here's what you need to know before you go.

Address: 9828 101A Avenue NW, Edmonton

Construction - 99th Street Closure
The City of Edmonton has begun the 99 Street Streetscaping and Waterproofing Project, affecting access between Jasper Avenue and 102 Avenue. As a result, the entrance to the Citadel parkade is currently closed. This construction may add time to your commute, so please plan accordingly.

Arriving by LRT

  • Capital Line & Metro Line: Both stop at Churchill Station, located directly beneath the Citadel Theatre. From there, you can access the building through the underground pedway system.

  • Valley Line Southeast: Stops at Churchill on 102 Avenue, just outside the Stanley A. Milner Library — about half a block from the Citadel.

Arriving by Car & Parking
Although the Citadel Parkade is not accessible, there are several nearby parking alternatives:

Rideshare & Other Options
To avoid construction delays and limited parking, we recommend considering Uber, Lyft, or a taxi.

A Quick Note About Timing
There are multiple events happening downtown this week, which may increase traffic and limit parking availability. Please give yourself extra time to arrive, park, and find your seats before the performance begins.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Here’s everything you need to know for
your night at Die Walküre.

What to wear:

June 5 - Cosplay Night: Dressing up? This is your moment. On opening night, we invite you to don your best fantasy looks - elf ears, cloaks, dramatic flair - and step into the world of gods and Valkyries.

For all other performances: There’s no official dress code. Weekend audiences tend to dress up a little more, while other nights are a mix of casual and cocktail. The opera is a great place to express your personal style - so come as your most fabulous self.

Latecomers: Latecomers will be asked to wait until a pause in the performance when it’s less disruptive to enter the theatre.

In the Lobby

  • Our Die Walküre photobooth

  • Opera Talks at 6:30 PM in the Rice Theatre Lobby

  • Merch booth with shirts, pins, and EO lanyards

  • Bar service with drinks and snacks

Phones and photography: Phones must be silenced or turned off during the performance. Photography, audio, and video recording are strictly prohibited inside the theatre.

Intermission: There will be one intermission halfway through the performance. We ask that you remain seated until then.
