A native of Montreal, Canada, Marie-Ève Scarfone joined the music staff of Opernhaus Zürich in 2020, following her role as Head Coach of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal. Her multifaceted career spans music direction, recital performance, chamber music, and pedagogy. Equally at home in operatic, song and instrumental repertoire, she is known for her musical sensitivity and collaborative spirit. She has appeared in recital with celebrated singers such as Cecilia Bartoli and Sumi Jo.

In addition to her musical expertise, Marie-Ève is recognized for her refined approach to French repertoire and diction, and is sought after for her ability to guide singers with stylistic and linguistic authenticity.

A dedicated educator, she taught at McGill University for many years, and has also been regularly invited to teach at institutions such as the Mälardalen University (Sweden), the Internationales Opernstudio (Zürich), the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, the Académie internationale du Domaine Forget and the Institut Canadien d’Art Vocal, where she shares her expertise with emerging artists. 

Her recordings and performances with a wide range of distinguished artists have garnered international recognition and multiple award nominations. Her collaboration with cellist Stéphane Tétreault yielded an album that was selected as a Critic’s Choice by Gramophone magazine in 2016.

Marie-Ève Scarfone is a graduate of both the Manhattan School of Music and the Université de Montréal.
