The Barber of Seville

Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868)
The Barber of Seville is opera at its most joyful; a fast-moving comedy where wit, music, and cleverness always stay one step ahead.

Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium

In The Barber of Seville, a clever barber, a determined young woman, and a lovestruck count collide in a fast-moving comedy of disguises, secrets, and perfectly timed mischief.

When Rosina is kept under the watchful eye of her guardian, it takes wit rather than force to outsmart him. Enter Figaro, the city’s most resourceful fixer, whose quick thinking sends the story racing toward a joyful, well-earned ending.

Beloved for its infectious energy and unforgettable melodies, Rossini’s comedy sparkles with humour and momentum, driven by character, timing, and intelligence rather than spectacle alone.

This season, The Barber of Seville returns to the Jubilee stage, accompanied by the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. A comedy built for the theatre, best experienced live and shared with an audience.
