A night out at the opera is an experience to remember. Make the most of it by following these tips!

What to wear: Whatever you feel comfortable in! We have no official dress code. Generally, audiences on Saturday (opening night) tend to dress up, while audiences on Tuesday and Friday night come dressed in a variety of evening wear and casual clothing. Going to the opera is a great opportunity to show off your personal style!

Getting there: The Jubilee Auditorium is conveniently located on the University of Alberta campus. It is easily accessible by LRT (a short walk from Health Sciences Station).

Parking: We are pleased to offer FREE parking in the Jubilee parkade included with your ticket. Arrive early to get a good spot!

Before the performance: Arrive at least 45 minutes before the show begins. This gives you enough time to park, check your coat, and grab a drink before heading into the theatre. You can pre-order drinks for intermission at any of the bars in the Jubilee — this is a great way to avoid lineups during intermission!

Latecomers: Latecomers will not be permitted to enter the theatre until intermission. You are invited to watch a live feed of the performance on an HD screen in the main floor lobby.

Opera Talks: You can also attend complimentary Opera Talks in the lower level Kaasa lobby 45 minutes before curtain. Our Opera Talks speaker will give you a preview of the opera including a quick summary, background on the composer and librettist, as well as interesting things to look for in the performance.

Photo booth: Strike a pose! At every performance, we offer a complimentary photo booth in the main lobby. This is a great way to flaunt your style or remember a fun night out with friends! All photos are uploaded to our Facebook page.

Phones and photography: Please keep your phone switched off or on silent during the performance. Photography and audio/video recording of the performance are strictly prohibited.

Intermission: We ask that you stay seated throughout the performance. Most operas have at least one intermission (sometimes two), during which you may use the washroom and get a drink.
