Donate non-perishables to Edmonton’s Food Bank at performances of Hansel & Gretel
To highlight the themes of our upcoming production Hansel & Gretel, Edmonton Opera is pleased to partner with Edmonton’s Food Bank to raise awareness about childhood hunger in our community.
We encourage you to bring donations of non-perishable items to performances of Hansel & Gretel on February 2, 5 & 8. We will also accept donations at our Box Office (15230 128 Ave) until February 8. Most needed items for children include healthy school snacks (granola bars, fruit cups, juice boxes, peanut butter), canned fruits & vegetables, and baby formula.
About Edmonton’s Food Bank:
Incorporated as Canada’s first food bank in January 1981, Edmonton’s Food Bank is committed to the collection of surplus and donated food for the effective distribution to people in need in our community, while seeking solutions to the causes of hunger. Each month, over 22,000 people receive food hampers from Edmonton’s Food Bank, of whom approximately 40% are children under the age of 18. They also provide nearly 500,000 meals and snacks monthly through affiliated agencies, including 59 schools in the Edmonton area.
