ABOUT EDMONTON OPERA
Art that resonates beyond the final note.
Edmonton Opera brings the community together through meaningful artistic experiences that celebrate our shared humanity.
Founded in 1963, Edmonton Opera is dedicated to producing great performances that showcase the powerful emotions of opera to our community. Each season, we challenge ourselves to present familiar favourites in imaginative new productions and feature repertoire that audiences rarely get to experience live.
Beyond the stage, Edmonton Opera is committed to making opera accessible, exciting, and meaningful for our diverse community. We offer free events and performances throughout the year, and often collaborate with other non-profits and arts organizations to reach new audiences. We also share the magic of opera with young people through our Education Program, Student Dress Rehearsals, and Under 40 ticket initiatives. By practising consistent and focused community engagement, Edmonton Opera aims to establish the performing arts as an essential part of everyday life in Edmonton.
In 2017, Edmonton Opera unveiled a newly-renovated, state-of-the-art facility that houses our box office, production shops, rehearsal hall, and administrative offices all in one place. The Opera Centre is also a hub for arts organizations in the city, offering shop space to build productions, convenient rentals of costumes and props, and access to a Jubilee stage-sized rehearsal hall.
