Follow the rise and fall of a star in Verdi’s grand romantic masterpiece La Traviata. Soprano Laquita Mitchell performs the iconic title role of Violetta, a famous Parisian courtesan who is consumed both by passion and a life-threatening illness. When she meets a handsome young noble named Alfredo, Violetta believes their love can triumph over the forces that threaten to tear them apart. Violetta, however, has only one inescapable fate — as La Traviata, the fallen woman.

In a historic first, our new production is co-commissioned by five of Canada’s leading opera companies, bringing a level of spectacle and artistry that will match the grandeur of Verdi’s music. With timeless favourites such as 'Brindisi' (the drinking song) and 'Sempre libera', La Traviata is a cornerstone of the operatic repertoire that cannot be missed!

From the composer of The Barber of Seville comes a raucous comedy with gorgeous bel canto melodies and vocal fireworks galore! Come along for the ride as a love triangle unfolds between notorious skirt-chaser Count Ory, his cunning Page, and a feisty Countess — complete with naughty nuns, scandalous set-ups, and way too much wine.

Edmonton’s own John Tessier, praised by Edmonton Journal for his “effortlessly light tenor” as the Prince in last year’s Cinderella, stars as the Count in our madcap new production directed by Brian Deedrick. This Western Canadian premiere promises you an unforgettable night of laughter, entertainment, and Rossini's charming music!
