Membership and Sponsorship
Opera is the greatest of all the arts – it is music, theatre, dance and the visual arts combined. Opera is also one of the most expensive art forms to produce. In fact, revenue generated by ticket purchases covers only a small portion of the cost of producing an opera. The remainder of the funding comes from government, foundations, donors, sponsors, special events...and from the generous contributions from people like you. There are many ways to support Edmonton Opera besides attending the performances.
Director’s Circle members enjoy a variety of premium benefits, such as reserved parking at the Jubilee, private members’ reception at the performances and priority tickets. Members are also invited to exclusive events.

Friends of Edmonton Opera receive acknowledgement in Edmonton Opera production playbills and a charitable tax receipt plus other benefits.
(Gift of $50 – $999)
Corporate Sponsors enjoy a wide variety of benefits including numerous marketing opportunities with one of Alberta’s leading arts organizations.

Reach for the Stars
Reach for the Stars is an initiative, now in its sixth season, that allows individual patrons and their business or social organizations to sponsor one or more of the stars of Edmonton Opera's productions. Patrons may also wish to sponsor an artist in celebration, honour or memory of a family member, colleague or friend.
Sponsorship of these stars helps offset some of the cost of their fees, and allows Edmonton Opera to continue to bring world-class talent to our stage. The artists also tell us that your sponsorship makes them feel particularly welcome in our community. Edmonton Opera thanks all our past contributors to the Reach for the Stars Artist Sponsorship initiative.
Benefits of Becoming a Patron
In addition to the benefits offered to Directors’ Circle Benefactors and Members, you are also eligible to enjoy:
- The opportunity to meet with your sponsored artist
(Subject to Directors’ approval and scheduled through the office) - Two (2) additional tickets to your sponsored performance(s)
- An invitation to attend working rehearsals featuring your sponsored artist
(Subject to Director’s approval) - Recognition in the production playbill
- Acknowledgment on the supertitle screen at the sponsored performance(s)
- Recognition on Edmonton Opera’s website (www.edmontonopera.com)
- Autographed photograph of your sponsored artist in their Edmonton Opera role
- A tax receipt for the maximum permitted amount of your sponsorship
