A season of passion is unfurled with Wagner's masterpiece of the eternal wanderer: a man doomed to sail the seas for all time in the quest for an impossible love. Twenty years have passed since this opera has graced the Edmonton stage, and we are proud to announce that the artists who sparked our excitement and imagination in Bluebeard's Castle / Erwartung - Jason Howard and Susan Marie Pierson - will be reunited to undertake the exceptionally demanding task of bringing Wagner's genius to life. We are equally delighted to welcome John Keenan to lead our Edmonton Opera Chorus and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in this daring project. The production is rooted in German expressionist cinema, and with our own Brian Deedrick at the helm, this is a production that will haunt your dreams.
