Join Edmonton Opera as we celebrate one of the longest days of the year with charming operatic performances on four different stages. Satisfy your palate with delectable hors d'oeuvres and wine as you stroll through the greenery; let the vibrant music and gentle breeze lift you to a state of summery bliss!

At Opera al Fresco, you will see the beauty of our beloved art form come alive with nature as the stage — this is an unforgettable summer tradition perfect for a date night or family outing! 

Tickets are now available, $59 for adults and $20 for children. Your ticket includes a selection of hors d'oeuvres at each performance venue in the Botanic Garden; wine will be available for purchase. This event sells out every year, so buy your tickets now!

What to expect at Opera al Fresco


Kurimoto Japanese Garden
Step into the breathtaking and serene Japanese Garden where we begin the evening with a welcome reception. Enjoy gourmet pretzels and a performance by the Victoria School of the Arts Elementary Choir.

Alpine Garden
Savour delicious vegetable samosas and enjoy performances by soprano Cara Brown and tenor Ron Long, who will share their favourite opera and musical theatre pieces.

Primula Dell
Experience the music of Mozart, Händel, Delibes, and Lehár in this fragrant, intimate setting and sample your choice of flame-grilled chicken with pineapple & curry sauce or Italian Caprese salad skewers.

Pine Pavilion
The talented Edmonton Opera Chorus will perform well-known choral pieces conducted by Peter Dala while you savour a mouth-watering ancient grains salad served in a bamboo boat!

To end the evening on a sweet note, we will serve decadent brownies garnished with fresh berries as you exit the garden.

Wine tickets ($7) will be available for purchase at each garden. Our wine selections are Siete Soles Cabernet Sauvignon (red) and Terra Andina Semillon Chardonnay (white).

All food served at Opera al Fresco is included in the price of your ticket. Gluten-free, vegan, and vegetarian options are available at some stations upon request.

Please note that as Opera al Fresco is an outdoor event, every effort will be made to continue with the performance during rain or inclement weather. There will be no refunds if extreme weather causes a cancellation. However, if organizers must cancel the event, patrons will receive a complimentary ticket to a future opera performance, and complimentary admission for a future visit to the garden, which will be mailed to ticket purchasers. On event day, check our website for up to date information.
