Edmonton Opera Chorus & Equity Artist Auditions

Ever want to be a member of the Edmonton Opera Chorus? Here’s what you need to know:

Each May we hold general auditions for the chorus. This year the dates are May 25th and 26th, by appointment only. We will be auditioning for chorus members as well as equity artists for all of our main-stage productions in the 12-13 season: AidaThe Tales of Hoffmann, and Eugene Onegin.

Here’s how to audition:

Contact HaNeul Kim, Company Manager at 780-288-4179 or haneul.kim@edmontonopera.com to book an appointment at our next round, and for more information on rehearsal times, physical requirements and remuneration.

Audition Requiements:

2 pieces, one of which must be in Italian, the second piece can be your choice, in any language you prefer. Both pieces must be from opera repertoire. An accompanist will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own.

Edmonton Opera Extras

Don’t sing but still want to be part of the action? Consider becoming an extra in the opera, what we call Supernumeraries, or “supers” for short. Supers are just like extras in the movies – you can be a general character like a guard or a townsperson, or have a very specific function in the show. Either way, no speaking (or singing!) is required, just a willingness to be on-stage! We normally look for mostly men as supers, but occasionally we need extra women too, as well as children of various ages and sizes. We are currently looking for supers for our next production of Aida.

How to become a Super:

Contact HaNeul Kim, Company Manager at 780-288-4179 or haneul.kim@edmontonopera.com for information on upcoming productions, Rehearsal times, physical requirements and remuneration.
